Mastercard Standard credit card from the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) is an excellent choice for specific groups—such as young adults, new employees, or anyone seeking a basic credit card to manage everyday, routine expenses. - Payment flexibility: You can pay a minimum of just 5% of the total outstanding balance each month.
- Pay for purchases in installments of up to 12 months, interest-free, at a very wide network of merchants partnered with Al Ahli Bank.

Our take
The Visa Classic credit card from the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) is an excellent entry-level option for those new to using credit cards—such as young adults or individuals just starting their careers—as well as for anyone looking for a card that helps prevent overspending. It also allows for effective management of installment transactions, fostering financial discipline. With a maximum credit limit of 9,999 EGP, it is an ideal choice if you are concerned about accumulating debt and prefer a lower cap on daily expenses, such as purchases at supermarkets or gas stations.

Our take
Pros
- A generous grace period: up to 55 days on purchases only before interest charges begin to accrue.
- EgyptAir Miles Program: The card's standout feature is the ability to earn flight miles on your daily spending, as it awards you one point/mile for every pound spent.
- Minimum Repayment: Repayment flexibility starting at just 5% of the total outstanding balance per month.
- Receive free SMS notifications
- Low issuance fees: The annual issuance or renewal fee is 150 EGP for the primary card and only 25 EGP for the supplementary card.
Cons
- Low credit limit: Just like the Classic categories, the card's maximum credit limit is 9,999 pounds.
- Debit interest rate: 3.50% per month on purchases and cash withdrawals if the outstanding balance is not paid in full within the grace period.
- Cash withdrawal fees (2%, with a minimum of EGP 10 at National Bank of Egypt ATMs and EGP 20 at local banks).
Our take
If you travel frequently with EgyptAir and are looking for a basic, low-fee credit card to earn extra miles on your small, everyday purchases—such as groceries, fuel, or utility bills—this card would be a smart and practical choice. However, if you are seeking a higher credit limit or perks like complimentary airport lounge access, we recommend opting for a higher-tier card, such as the Mastercard Titanium or Platinum.
The card is excellent if your primary goal is to use it for purchases within Egypt—such as at supermarkets or for paying bills—and to accumulate points and miles (one mile for every Egyptian pound spent), which can then be used to book flights with EgyptAir.

Our take
Pros
- The card’s maximum credit limit reaches EGP 49,999, offering you greater flexibility for medium and large purchases compared to lower-tier cards.
- Free supplementary cards: The card allows you to obtain a supplementary card for free.
- High cash withdrawal limit: The credit limit available for cash withdrawals is 30,000 EGP per day.
- International Support Services: Access medical or legal emergency advice while outside Egypt by calling the dedicated Visa cardholder helpline.
- Free SMS notifications to track spending activity.
- Installment plans: Option to pay for purchases in installments over periods of up to 12 months interest-free at participating merchants, or via phone with reduced interest rates for up to 36 months.
Cons
- The Visa Gold card does not offer complimentary airport lounge access.
- The interest rate is 3.50% per month if the full outstanding balance is not paid within the grace period.
Our take
The Visa Gold card is the best and most balanced choice for employees or professionals seeking a credit limit of around 50,000 EGP—useful for covering emergencies or paying for home appliances in flexible installments. It also includes the benefit of a free supplementary card for a family member, as well as access to advisory services for medical or legal emergencies while you are abroad. However, if you travel internationally frequently, the "Titanium" or "Platinum" tiers might be more attractive options, as they offer additional travel-related benefits.
The Visa Gold card is your best and most cost-effective choice, offering the added benefit of advisory services for medical or legal emergencies while you are outside Egypt.

Our take
Pros
- Flexible grace period: Up to 55 days on purchases only, giving you ample time to repay without interest.
- AlAhli Points Rewards Program: The card awards you one point for every pound spent on purchases.
- Cash withdrawal flexibility: The bank offers a credit limit for daily cash withdrawals of up to EGP 30,000.
- Free supplementary card: You can issue a free supplementary card for a family member.
- Installment and Secure Shopping Programs: The option to pay for purchases in installments through various Al Ahli Bank programs, featuring a secure code.
Cons
- A minimum spend equivalent to one US dollar (in any foreign currency) must be made using the card internationally at least 72 hours prior to the visit to activate airport lounge access privileges for a period of three months.
- Credit Limit: The maximum limit (49,999 EGP) may not be sufficient for individuals whose spending patterns require larger amounts or who are planning major purchases.
Our take
The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) Titanium Mastercard is an excellent choice for the mid-range segment seeking a balance between fees and services. However, the card has certain limitations for international travelers due to recent conditions imposed by Mastercard regarding airport lounge access. If you are an employee looking for a card for daily purchases, emergencies, and installment plans within Egypt, it is one of the best options in its price category. Conversely, if you desire the prestige of travel perks, unlimited free airport lounge access, or high spending limits, it is better to skip this option and apply directly for the Platinum card.
The National Bank of Egypt’s Titanium Mastercard credit card is an excellent choice for the middle segment seeking a balance between fees and services.

Our take
Pros
- High credit limit: The card offers a maximum credit limit of up to EGP 250,000.
- Longer grace period: The grace period extends up to 57 days on purchases only.
- The card allows you to pay for purchases in interest-free installments over three months, up to a maximum of EGP 10,000 (once a year).
- An opportunity for customers with the highest card usage for purchases to win free tickets to UEFA Champions League matches.
- Monthly draws or prizes for top users include: 1 million loyalty points (equivalent to EGP 10,000), repayment of 50% of the outstanding balance (up to a maximum of EGP 10,000), or travel discount vouchers worth EGP 10,000.
- Get 10% monthly cashback on online purchase transactions (up to a maximum of EGP 125 per month).
- Points Program: You earn one point for every pound spent on purchases through the "AlAhli Points" program.
- Free supplementary card and free SMS subscription
Cons
- Restricted airport lounge access conditions: Similar to the Titanium tier, a minimum spend equivalent to one US dollar (in any foreign currency) must be made internationally using the card at least 72 hours prior to the visit.
- Complimentary access is permitted only twice a year after meeting the international spending requirement.
- Exclusion of e-wallet transactions: Transactions used to top up the Al Ahli Phone Cash wallet are excluded when calculating purchase values for eligibility for monthly prizes or match tickets.
- If travel vouchers are won but not collected within one month of the recorded call, the prize is automatically forfeited.
Our take
The UEFA Champions League Mastercard is a significant upgrade over traditional Titanium cards if you are seeking a higher credit limit (£250,000) and wish to take advantage of features like an annual interest-free installment plan and cashback on online purchases. However, if you are aiming for unlimited airport lounge access, the card is still subject to Mastercard’s recent restrictions; you would still need a Platinum-tier card or higher to avoid these limitations.
The National Bank of Egypt’s UEFA Champions League Mastercard credit card is specifically designed for football fans and enthusiasts of European tournaments.

- Long grace period: The card offers a grace period of up to 57 days on purchases only.
- The card grants you 6 complimentary annual visits to over 1,200 airport lounges worldwide via the Visa Airport Companion app.

- The option to double the warranty period for purchased goods, extending it by up to an additional 12 months.

Cons
- Higher annual costs: As it is a Platinum card, the fees for issuance and annual renewal are higher compared to standard (Titanium) cards.
- International lounge access spending requirement: Although it offers six visits (better than the two provided by the Titanium card), the requirement to spend $5 internationally prior to travel can be a hurdle for those who do not regularly use the card for foreign transactions.
Our take
The Al Ahli Bank Visa Platinum card represents a genuine step up into the world of premium cards. If you have high monthly spending—such as purchasing appliances or booking trips for significant amounts—and wish to accumulate reward points quickly (1.5 points per EGP), this is the ideal choice for you. It also offers a great solution for travelers, providing six airport lounge visits; simply make an international purchase or top-up of at least $5 prior to travel to activate this benefit.
The National Bank of Egypt’s Visa Platinum credit card is classified as a premium card, designed to meet the needs of customers seeking high credit limits and comprehensive travel and shopping benefits.

Our take
Pros
- The card offers you an exceptionally high credit limit of up to USD 50,000, giving you the freedom to make international purchases.
- Exceptional rewards point return (AlAhli Points): You will earn 22 points for every US dollar spent on purchases.
- Avoid currency conversion fees: Since the card account and spending are in US dollars, you will not incur currency conversion fees.
- 6 complimentary annual visits to airport lounges worldwide via the Visa Airport Companion app.
- Comprehensive insurance against loss or damage for all purchases made using the card.
- The option to double the warranty period for purchased goods for up to an additional 12 months.
- Free medical and legal advice service worldwide.
Cons
- Unlike standard cards, this card cannot be issued against a salary or a commercial registration; the bank requires it to be secured solely by dollar-denominated certificates (with the exception of AlAhli Fawran and Biladi certificates).
- High issuance and renewal fees: The issuance fee for a supplementary card is US$50, and the annual fee for the primary card is relatively high, as it is calculated in hard currency.
- Daily cash withdrawal limit: Although the purchase limit is substantial ($50,000), the available daily ATM cash withdrawal limit is capped at $1,000 USD.
Our take
The US Dollar Visa Platinum card is an excellent financial tool for investors or holders of US dollar savings certificates at the National Bank of Egypt, particularly if your business or lifestyle involves international purchases or travel requiring significant dollar expenditures. It completely eliminates local spending limits and currency conversion fees while rewarding you with substantial points (22 points per dollar); however, it remains unavailable to the average user who does not hold US dollar savings locked in the bank.
The National Bank of Egypt’s Visa Platinum Dollar Credit Card is an investment and credit solution designed specifically for customers who hold foreign currency savings and wish to leverage them to gain significant international purchasing power.

- High credit limit: The card offers a substantial credit limit of up to EGP 250,000, providing great flexibility for purchases.

- Free supplementary cards and free SMS subscription: You can issue two supplementary cards for free for your family members.

- Mastercard offers a replacement card service or emergency cash provision within 48 hours, anywhere in the world, in the event that the card is lost while traveling.
Cons
- Airport lounge access is permitted only 8 times per year.
- A minimum spend equivalent to one US dollar (in any foreign currency) on international card transactions is required at least 72 hours prior to visiting the lounge to activate access eligibility for three months.
- Its issuance and annual renewal fees are high.
- Interest on instant cash withdrawals: The 57-day grace period does not apply to cash withdrawals; interest and fees are calculated from the day of the transaction.
Our take
The Al Ahli Bank Platinum Mastercard is an excellent choice for large domestic purchases and installment plans, thanks to a credit limit of up to a quarter of a million EGP and a high point-accumulation rate (1.5 points per EGP). As for travel: although the card offers eight annual airport lounge visits—a very impressive figure that surpasses the Titanium tier, which grants only two—the requirement for a prior international transaction (of just one dollar, made 72 hours before travel) remains an annoying hurdle if you do not regularly use the card for international or online purchases leading up to your trips. However, if you can manage this simple requirement before you travel, the card will prove to be a fantastic and valuable companion.
The Al Ahli Bank Platinum Mastercard is an excellent choice for large local purchases and installment plans, thanks to a credit limit reaching a quarter of a million pounds.

- The card gives you 1.75 points for every pound spent on purchases.
- The card grants you 20 complimentary annual visits to airport lounges worldwide via the Mastercard Travel Pass app.

Cons
- High renewal fees; the supplementary card fee is 1,000 EGP.
- International lounge access spending requirement: Although 20 visits is a substantial number that meets any traveler's needs, the requirement to activate this benefit by making an international transaction equivalent to one dollar—at least 72 hours prior to travel—remains a condition that must always be kept in mind to ensure complimentary access.
- High issuance fee of 3,000 pounds.
Our take
If you have high monthly spending, travel frequently, and are looking for a card that offers international prestige and status—along with a credit limit of up to half a million pounds and a highly generous, easy-to-earn rewards program—then this is undoubtedly one of the best options available in the Egyptian banking market. Our take
The Mastercard World Elite card is a symbol of luxury and financial stature. If you are a high-net-worth individual with significant spending and transaction volumes who frequently travels with family or a partner, this card is indisputably the best choice in the Egyptian market. Benefits such as double points (2 points per EGP) and unlimited lounge access—for both you and a guest—easily offset the annual fee, provided you remember to make a small international purchase (even just one dollar) before traveling to activate these perks.
The National Bank of Egypt’s Mastercard World Elite credit card is the highest and most exclusive card in the Mastercard range.

Our take
The Al Ahli Visa Infinite card is the ideal choice if you are seeking massive purchasing power and prefer the global Visa network, along with its robust, extended insurance packages (such as extended appliance warranties and damage protection). It is an excellent card for frequent travelers, offering unlimited lounge access, while its activation requirement—spending just $5 every three months—is very simple and easily met by anyone who travels or shops online regularly.
The National Bank of Egypt’s Visa Infinite credit card is the most prestigious card offered by Visa; it is specially designed to deliver a new level of luxury and exclusive services.
