This policy explains what data we collect when you use the Banky website (bankygate.com) and the Banky mobile apps, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and your rights over it. We follow the Egyptian Personal Data Protection Law No. 151 of 2020.
1. Who we are
The controller of your data is BankyGate LLC («شركة موقع بنكي (ذ.م.م)»), licensed by the Supreme Council for Media Regulation in the Arab Republic of Egypt, with its head office on South 90th Street, New Cairo, next to the American University in Cairo. The Banky apps are developed on the company's behalf by Sync EG on Google Play and MTDM on the App Store. For anything about your data, email [email protected].
2. Data we collect
Data you give us:
Account details: name, email, phone number and photo. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive only your name and email from them.
Financial profile (optional): such as date of birth, gender, marital status, governorate and city, employment type, employer and length of employment, income and monthly obligations.
Product requests: what you enter in the "Apply now" form, and the bank and product you chose.
What you post: comments, questions, reviews and poll votes.
Messages to us: what you send through the contact page or by email.
Questions to the assistant: the text of your conversation with the Banky assistant.
Data we collect automatically:
Usage data: the pages and products you view, compare or save, and your searches, linked to a pseudonymous identifier.
Technical data: IP address, device, browser and operating system type, time of visit, and the page that referred you.
Sign-in sessions: the device and browser type and IP address of each session, to protect your account.
Notification tokens: if you turn on notifications, we store your device's token so we can send them.
We never ask for bank account or card numbers, banking passwords or your national ID number. Please don't write them in any comment or question.
3. Why we use your data
To create your account, sign you in, and protect it from unauthorised use.
To show the products that fit you best, based on your financial profile if you filled it in.
To pass your request to the bank you chose, with your consent.
To send the notifications and alerts you turned on.
To publish and moderate your posts and answer your messages.
To measure and improve the Services, and to count ad views and clicks and prevent fraud.
To comply with the law and respond to judicial and official requests.
We rely on your consent (for example the financial profile, notifications and product requests), on providing a service you asked for, on our legitimate interest in protecting and improving the Services, or on a legal obligation.
4. Who we share your data with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We share it only in these cases:
Banks: when you send a product request, we send the request details to that bank with your consent. From then on the bank's own privacy policy applies. We never send your financial profile to a bank except as part of a request you approve.
Technology providers who work for us and on our instructions, including Google Firebase for sign-in and notifications, Apple for sign-in and notifications on iPhone, Cloudflare to deliver and protect the site, our hosting and backup providers, and AI model providers that run the assistant.
Authorities: when the law requires it, or a competent judicial or regulatory authority in the Arab Republic of Egypt orders it.
The public: comments and questions you post are visible to everyone with your display name. We automatically hide phone numbers and contact details in comments.
Some providers may process data on servers outside Egypt. We work only with providers that commit to appropriate protection standards.
5. The assistant
Questions you ask the assistant are sent to an AI model to prepare the answer. Don't include personal data or account or card numbers. The assistant's answers are general guidance and may contain mistakes; the bank's official terms always prevail.
6. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies that the Services need to work:
Sign-in cookies: keep you signed in from page to page. Scripts on the page cannot read them.
Ad session ID: a random number that carries no data about you, kept for 30 days, used to count each ad view and click once and prevent fraud.
We do not currently use third-party tracking cookies for advertising or analytics.
7. How long we keep your data
Account details, financial profile and saved items: for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, they are deleted after a 7-day grace period.
Raw usage data: up to 60 days, then deleted, leaving only totals that do not identify you.
Security and audit logs: up to 730 days, then deleted automatically.
Database backups: up to 30 days, then overwritten automatically.
Messages to us: as long as needed to answer them and keep a record of what you asked, including an account deletion request as proof that we carried it out.
The full list of what is deleted and what is kept when you delete your account is on the account deletion page.
8. Your rights
Under the Personal Data Protection Law, you have the right to:
Access and copy: download a copy of your account data from Settings → Privacy & data.
Correct and update: edit your details and financial profile in your account settings at any time.
Delete: delete your financial profile, or your whole account from settings or the account deletion page.
Withdraw consent: turn off notifications or clear your financial profile at any time. This does not affect anything done before you withdrew.
Object and complain: email [email protected], and if the matter isn't resolved you can complain to the Personal Data Protection Center.
We answer data requests within 7 working days.
9. Advertising
The Services show ads run by Banky's own system. We do not share your personal data with advertisers, and we measure ad performance in totals only. Ads are clearly marked apart from editorial content.
10. How we protect your data
We protect your data with appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), sign-in cookies that pages cannot read, staff access limited to what each role needs, and audit logs of every administrative access. No system is 100% secure, so please keep your password and sign-in method safe.
11. Children
The Services are meant for adults, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you learn that a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
12. External links
The Services may link to bank websites or other third parties. We do not control how they collect data; please read their privacy policies.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy and will post the new version on this page with its update date. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the Services or by email before it takes effect.
14. Contact
For any question or request about your data, email [email protected] or use the contact page. See also our Terms of Use.
