Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly announced the recommendations and outcomes of the Egypt Forum 2026, which included a target to raise the minimum wage.
Speaking at the closing session of the Egypt Forum 2026, the Prime Minister announced a target to raise the minimum wage from EGP 8,000 currently to EGP 15,000 by the end of fiscal year 2029-2030, a move that would benefit about 4.5 million employees of the state's administrative apparatus.
He said the government aims to raise average spending on the health sector by at least 50% by the end of 2029, and to draw up a plan to give teachers financial incentives commensurate with their workload and responsibilities.
The Prime Minister said the targets also include upgrading 700 technical schools in partnership with the private sector and the labour market, with financial incentives for partners until 2030, and increasing the number of Japanese schools in Egypt from 103 to 500 within 3 years.
He added that the government also aims to end evening shifts in primary schools by 2027, in preparatory schools by 2028 and in secondary schools by 2029, noting that the Ministry of Education and the International Schools Foundation have been directed to develop and modernise schools.
He stressed that the state aims to complete the second and third phases of the Haya Karima (Decent Life) initiative, extending development to every district and city in the country.
