Banks operating in Egypt's banking sector will begin offering a range of free banking services and products to mark the global financial inclusion week and World Savings Day, from October 15 to October 31, 2026, under the auspices of the Central Bank of Egypt.
The events give citizens a chance to learn about banking services and benefit from a number of products with no account-opening fees or minimum balance, as well as the issuance of certain cards and banking services, supporting the state's drive to widen the banking sector's customer base and promote financial literacy.
Key free services during World Savings Day events
During the events, citizens can benefit from a number of services, including:
Opening bank accounts with no account-opening fees and no minimum, depending on the products each bank offers.
Issuance of prepaid cards.
Issuance of debit cards, subject to the bank's terms.
Subscription to digital banking services, such as internet and mobile banking, at banks that offer them as part of the events.
Issuance of mobile wallets.
Learning about financing and savings products that suit customers' needs.
Taking part in financial awareness and education activities and seminars.
Banks are giving new customers the chance to open a bank account through easy, simplified procedures and to benefit from a range of banking services offered as part of the financial inclusion events.
Banks' participation in World Savings Day events is part of efforts to boost financial inclusion and make banking services available to more citizens, especially in rural areas, while raising awareness of the importance of saving and of the safe use of financial products and services.
Egypt has seen a major leap in financial inclusion rates in recent years, as confirmed by the Financial Stability Report issued by the Central Bank of Egypt in March 2025, which pointed to a significant expansion in the number of citizens who hold bank accounts or use formal financial services.
This progress reflects the successful implementation of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy 2022–2025, which aims to increase the use of banking services, achieve greater economic empowerment for women and young people, and support the shift toward a cashless society.
