A Banky analysis of Housing & Development Bank's (HDB) standalone financial statements for the first half of 2026 shows the bank continued to step up its lending alongside growth in its deposit base, lifting its loan-to-deposit ratio to 40.2% at the end of June 2026.
The bank grew customer deposits by about EGP 23.08 billion in the first six months of the year to EGP 202.21 billion at the end of June 2026, up from EGP 179.13 billion at the end of December 2025, a growth rate of 12.9%.
At the same time, the bank kept expanding its financing and credit facilities. Its loan portfolio rose by EGP 15.72 billion in the first half to EGP 81.44 billion at the end of June 2026, compared with EGP 65.72 billion at the end of December 2025, growth of 23.9%.
The strong pace of loan growth since the end of last year reflects the bank's push to strengthen its financing role and make greater use of its available liquidity, which helped improve its loan-to-deposit ratio over the period.
On profitability, HDB posted a net profit of EGP 9.92 billion at the end of June 2026, compared with EGP 8.93 billion in the same period of 2025, an increase of 11.1%, supported by business growth and continued expansion across its banking activities.
