Marking Pink October: awareness sessions and early screening for the bank's female employees
As part of its commitment to promoting health awareness and providing a workplace that supports employee health, Housing & Development Bank (HDB) has launched a breast cancer awareness initiative in cooperation with the Baheya Foundation for Early Detection and Treatment of Breast Cancer, coinciding with Pink October. The initiative includes awareness sessions for the bank's female employees and the opportunity to undergo early screening, underlining the importance of early detection in improving the chances of treatment and limiting the disease's complications.
The sessions covered the importance of early breast cancer detection, the associated risk factors and ways to prevent it, as well as the correct way to carry out a self-examination and the signs that call for medical advice. The initiative also gave the bank's female employees the chance to undergo early screening, helping to raise their health awareness and encouraging them to adopt sound preventive practices.
The initiative is part of HDB's 2025–2030 strategy, which aims to provide a supportive and motivating workplace that puts employees' health and quality of life among its priorities. It reflects the bank's belief that investing in its people goes beyond professional development to include caring for their health and wellbeing and encouraging healthy practices, strengthening their engagement and effectiveness in achieving the bank's strategic goals and sustaining its growth.
The initiative extends the cooperation between HDB and the Baheya Foundation, which includes the bank's support for setting up a fully integrated operating wing bearing the bank's name at Baheya Hospital. The wing comprises two fully equipped operating rooms built on a closed-capsule system, with total contributions of up to EGP 21 million, supporting surgery for women fighting breast cancer and strengthening the hospital's capacity to deliver treatment. The cooperation underlines the bank's commitment to supporting efforts to improve healthcare and serve the community.
