As part of its commitment to its community role and its social responsibility strategy, which places support for the healthcare sector at the top of its priorities, Housing & Development Bank (HDB) has opened children's inpatient rooms at Al Nas Hospital. The aim is to increase the hospital's capacity and improve the quality of healthcare provided to sick children from the neediest groups, helping to provide equal opportunities for healthcare and a decent life for all.
The bank's contribution included equipping 3 children's inpatient rooms in the hospital's new unit and covering the treatment of 23 heart and gastrointestinal patients on waiting lists whose conditions require surgery, catheterisation or endoscopy, with total contributions of EGP 11.4 million.
The opening was attended by Yehia Abou El Fotouh, CEO and Managing Director of HDB; Ayman Abbas, Treasurer of Al Good Charity Foundation; Gihan El Guly, Head of Corporate Communications and Sustainable Development at HDB; and a number of representatives of HDB and Al Nas Hospital.
Yehia Abou El Fotouh, CEO and Managing Director of HDB, expressed his pride in the long-standing partnership and ongoing cooperation between HDB and Al Nas Hospital since 2022, aimed at helping to provide better healthcare for children from the groups most in need of care.
Abou El Fotouh stressed that the bank's support for Al Nas Hospital stems from its belief in the importance of supporting the healthcare sector, by directing its community contributions towards development initiatives that aim for a positive and sustainable impact and help improve citizens' quality of life, especially for the neediest groups, reinforcing equal opportunity and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals.
He noted that social responsibility will remain a core part of HDB's identity, reflecting its commitment to an integrated vision that balances strong financial performance with maximising a positive and lasting impact on the lives of individuals and communities.
Gihan El Guly, Head of Corporate Communications and Sustainable Development at HDB, said the cooperation with Al Nas Hospital, which dates back to 2022, reflects the bank's view of the importance of building sustainable development partnerships based on integration and continuity, aimed at making a tangible difference in citizens' lives by supporting every aspect of the healthcare system.
She added that the cooperation has included an integrated set of contributions, starting with support for developing medical skills by hosting an American medical team to train 150 members of the hospital's medical staff and employees. The contributions also extended to equipping an operating theatre with specialised medical equipment, supporting the hospital's ability to deliver advanced treatment. The bank also helped reduce waiting lists for heart and gastrointestinal patients by covering the treatment of a number of cases requiring surgery, and equipped 3 inpatient rooms for child patients in the new unit, giving them a suitable and comfortable environment during treatment.
She stressed that the range and complementarity of these contributions reflect a comprehensive vision of development that links building medical capacity, developing treatment capabilities, making health services easier for patients to access and providing a care environment that meets children's psychological and human needs, easing the burden on patients and their families and improving the quality of care they receive. She noted that the bank's total contributions under its cooperation with Al Nas Hospital have reached about EGP 17 million, reflecting its commitment to social responsibility and to supporting initiatives with a lasting development impact.
