When should I request a chargeback instead of a refund from the merchant?

If you made the purchase and the merchant agreed to the return, proceed to Refund first.

If you have a qualifying dispute that the merchant hasn't resolved, ask your bank about Chargeback.

If the transaction isn't yours, report it immediately as unauthorized.
