The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) held a bilateral meeting with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to discuss ways to develop cooperation between the two sides, on the sidelines of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group in Bangkok.

Ibrahim Obaid Al Zaabi, Assistant Governor for Monetary Policy and Financial Stability; H.E. Ahmed Saeed Al Qamzi, Assistant Governor for Banking and Insurance Supervision; and Mohamed Hussain Al Marzouqi, Head of the International and Domestic Affairs Department, met Mr. Leong Sing Chiong, Deputy Managing Director (Markets and Development) at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, along with a number of senior officials.

The two sides discussed prospects for joint work on central bank digital currencies, cross-border trade and settlement, and cross-border QR code payments, as well as green finance and the management of climate-related financial risks. The meeting forms part of the cooperation under the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides in 2009.

Ahmed Saeed Al Qamzi said: "Our partnership with the Monetary Authority of Singapore spans more than seventeen years, and today we seek to expand it into new areas, foremost among them cross-border payment and settlement solutions, facilitating trade and investment between the two countries and serving individuals and businesses alike. We believe that the exchange of expertise between the two institutions strengthens their ability to keep pace with rapid changes in the global financial sector."
