The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) has signed a cooperation protocol with the Egyptian Clothing Bank Foundation to deliver the "Dignity Clothing" project. The project aims to provide suitable, healthy and eco-friendly clothing to women and children from the most vulnerable groups across Egypt, as part of the bank's efforts to support community development and improve quality of life for those most in need.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity; Ghada Tawfik, Sub-Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt for Social Responsibility; Dr. Ghada Waly, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Clothing Bank Foundation; Dina Abou Taleb, Head of the Marketing and Community Development Group at NBE; and Manal Saleh, CEO of the Egyptian Clothing Bank Foundation.

The "Dignity Clothing" project reflects the bank's belief that impactful community development starts with understanding citizens' basic needs and working to meet them with sustainable solutions, and that preserving human dignity and providing life's basic necessities are an integral part of comprehensive development. The project combines three main dimensions: supporting the groups most in need by promoting health, reducing the causes of school dropout, and protecting the environment. This makes it an integrated model of development projects that deliver social and environmental impact at the same time. NBE continues to back effective partnerships with civil-society organizations to deliver initiatives that can reach the largest number of beneficiaries and achieve lasting impact.

Dr. Maya Morsy praised NBE's national and community role in supporting sustainable development efforts. She said partnership with the banking sector is an important pillar for strengthening social protection programs, widening support for the groups most in need, and backing the economic empowerment of Egyptian families, with a positive effect on living standards and citizens' quality of life.

Dr. Ghada Waly expressed her appreciation for NBE's support of the foundation over the years and thanked the bank's community development team. She said that belief in new and innovative ideas helps deliver a range of initiatives that serve society, and noted the foundation's commitment to recycling available resources and using them as efficiently as possible to achieve the greatest possible benefit.

Dina Abou Taleb said the "Dignity Clothing" project is a different model of community project: it addresses a basic need that touches the lives of women and children, while offering a practical solution to one of the environmental challenges linked to growing textile waste. Providing suitable, healthy clothing to those most in need is not only about meeting a material need; it also supports mental and physical health, helps children stay in school, and eases part of the economic burden on families. Recycling nearly 30 tons of pre-consumer textile waste is another important part of the project. She stressed that NBE is keen to support initiatives with integrated impact that bring together people, the environment and sustainability, turning available resources into solutions that serve society.

Manal Saleh expressed her appreciation for the partnership with NBE to deliver the "Dignity Clothing" project. She said the project aims to provide healthy, dignified underwear to the groups most in need, ensuring beneficiaries receive basic necessities that affect their health and everyday dignity. The partnership opens the way to reach more beneficiaries across Egypt's governorates, while also making use of textile waste by recycling it into valuable products for community use, supporting the circular economy and delivering social and environmental benefit at once.

She added that the partnership with NBE is an important step toward expanding the project's reach and maximizing its impact, turning sustainability from a concept into a practical reality that benefits both citizens and the environment.
