The statistical bulletin issued by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) showed that total credit facilities extended by banks (excluding the CBE) to individuals rose to EGP 1.546 trillion at the end of May 2026, accounting for 13.37% of total credit facilities, which stood at EGP 11.564 trillion at the end of May.

According to the data, credit facilities to individuals grew 8.6% to EGP 1.546 trillion at the end of May 2026, compared with EGP 1.424 trillion at the end of December 2025.

Local-currency credit facilities to individuals rose to EGP 1.519 trillion at the end of May 2026, while foreign-currency credit facilities to individuals stood at the equivalent of EGP 27.758 billion at the end of May.

Outstanding credit facilities extended by banks (excluding the CBE) rose to EGP 11.564 trillion at the end of May 2026, compared with EGP 10.377 trillion at the end of December 2025, an increase of EGP 1.19 trillion, or 11.44%.
