The Central Bank of the UAE will host its second Climate Forum in Abu Dhabi on 8 October 2026, under the patronage of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court and Chairman of the Central Bank's Board of Directors. Representatives of central banks, regulators and financial institutions will take part.
The forum aims to strengthen the financial sector's ability to address climate-related risks, share expertise on sustainable finance, and develop regulatory frameworks and banking practices that support the transition to a sustainable economy.
The second edition will discuss the strategic implications of climate change, transition plans for economic sectors and how to finance them, and the role of public-private partnerships. It will also address the importance of climate data in supporting financial and supervisory decisions, and the implications of climate risks for monetary policy and banking supervision.
The following day, 9 October, the Central Bank of the UAE will hold its first Climate Research Seminar in cooperation with the Transition Economics Expertise Centre at the London School of Economics and Political Science. The seminar will present research on climate, sustainable investment and monetary policy, and its role in developing financial and banking policy.
The two events are part of the Central Bank's efforts to support the UAE's climate agenda, embed sustainability principles in the financial sector and strengthen the sector's contribution to achieving the country's climate neutrality targets.
