Data from the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) show the number of prepaid cards in the banking sector rose to 35.705 million by the end of the first half of 2026, from 34.343 million at the end of last December.

The data also showed the total number of credit cards rising to 7.101 million and debit cards to 29.729 million by the end of last June.

The total number of ATMs in the banking sector rose to 27,300, while points of sale reached about 296,421 by the end of last June.

The number of banking-sector employees rose to 149,757 by the end of last June.
