Banks operating in Egypt's banking sector have announced that some services will be affected by system updates for the end of daylight saving time at the close of Thursday, 29 October 2026, at 23:59.

In text messages to customers and on their official social media pages, the banks explained that daylight saving time will end on Thursday, 29 October, disrupting some electronic services. These will be temporarily unavailable from 11 p.m. (summer time) until 3 a.m. on Friday, 30 October 2026 (winter time), to ensure the banks' systems are aligned with the new local time (GMT +02:00).

In their instructions to customers, the banks stressed the need to make sure devices are set to the updated time before carrying out any banking transaction, especially transactions that require a one-time password (OTP).

The step reflects the banks' commitment to protecting customer data and providing the best possible service without any glitches affecting the completion of banking transactions, whether at ATMs or through digital channels such as mobile and internet banking.
