Banque du Caire continues to support the handicrafts and heritage sector as lead sponsor, for the sixth consecutive year, of the 8th edition of the "Turathna 2026" exhibition. The event is organized by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and runs from October 17 to 24 this month at the Egypt International Exhibition Center on El-Mosheer Axis in Cairo.
Banque du Caire's participation as lead sponsor this year reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting small business owners and artisans and strengthening the growth and sustainability of their projects. This is in line with the pillars of the bank's social responsibility strategy, chief among them economic empowerment, support for the most vulnerable groups and the promotion of financial inclusion, as well as preserving Egyptian heritage and supporting productive activities that help create jobs and improve living standards.
Haidy El-Nahas, Head of Corporate Communications and Social Responsibility at Banque du Caire, said the bank's continued participation in Turathna for the sixth consecutive year, this year as lead sponsor, reflects its commitment to supporting initiatives with a tangible and lasting economic and social impact. She noted that supporting handicrafts and heritage crafts is one of the areas where economic empowerment and the preservation of Egypt's cultural identity come together. The bank, she explained, is keen to help craft business owners develop their businesses, strengthen their productive and competitive capabilities and widen their products' access to markets, supporting the growth and sustainability of their projects.
She added that Turathna is more than a platform for displaying products: it is a real opportunity for artisans to connect directly with the public and learn about market needs, helping them develop their products and expand their customer base. She stressed Banque du Caire's commitment to continuing to support initiatives that open new economic horizons for owners of small and micro enterprises and help turn craft and heritage skills into opportunities for growth and value creation, strengthening these enterprises' contribution to economic and social development.
The 8th edition of Turathna features more than 1,000 exhibitors from governorates across Egypt, presenting thousands of handmade and heritage products and works of art that reflect the diversity and authenticity of Egyptian crafts. This year's edition stands out for the wide participation of business owners, artisans and specialized NGOs from Upper Egypt, Sinai and the border governorates, as well as a notable presence of women from Halayeb and Shalateen, with a dedicated pavilion for their heritage products.
The exhibition also gives participants the chance to connect directly with the public, widen the marketing of their products and benefit from the technical, financing and marketing support services offered by the MSME Development Agency, helping craft businesses develop and reach new markets at home and abroad.
Turathna is one of the region's leading events dedicated to handicrafts and heritage crafts. It helps support small business owners and artisans, promote Egyptian products, and preserve traditional skills and pass them on to new generations, strengthening the role of heritage industries in supporting economic activity and related sectors, especially tourism.
