The US dollar remained under pressure in global markets today after falling to a three-week low in the previous session, as lower U.S. Treasury yields and falling oil prices reduced the currency's appeal.

The dollar index, which measures the US currency against a basket of six major currencies, held steady at 101.78 points after falling 0.2% in the previous session.

The Australian dollar, by contrast, rose 0.1% to USD 0.7013, nearing the three-week high of USD 0.7017 it reached in the previous session.

The US dollar was steady against the Japanese yen at 158.33 yen, while the euro held at USD 1.1229 and sterling at USD 1.33735.

Traders remained cautious about the euro amid widespread protests in France and growing concerns about the country's public finances.

In other currency markets, the New Zealand dollar slipped 0.1% to USD 0.5677.
