The Cabinet's Media Center published infographics on its social media platforms reviewing the World Bank's key forecasts for Egypt's economic growth outlook, along with its findings on the state's efforts to prepare for adopting artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, invest in technology infrastructure and develop specialized talent.
These indicators reflect growing opportunities for the Egyptian economy, given positive growth forecasts and efforts to stabilize markets and protect households, alongside a push to develop technological capabilities and expand the base of companies working in AI, helping Egypt keep pace with global technological shifts and benefit from the opportunities they bring.
On economic growth, the infographics showed that the World Bank raised its forecast for Egypt's growth rate to 5.1% in fiscal year 2025/2026, up from 4.3% in its previous forecast. It also expects per capita GDP to grow by 3.9% in the same fiscal year.
Citing World Bank estimates, the infographics pointed to Egypt's economic growth rate rising from 4.4% in fiscal year 2024/2025 to an estimated 5.1% in fiscal year 2025/2026, driven by easing inflation, higher private consumption and investment, and a recovery in the extractive industries.
The World Bank also said Egypt has taken measures to stabilize markets and protect households, including subsidizing basic commodities, tightening oversight of price manipulation and expanding cash transfers.
On AI adoption, the World Bank said Egypt is investing in AI infrastructure and developing specialized talent in the field, with the aim of preparing young people for the jobs of the future and promoting the responsible use of the technology.
According to the World Bank, the infographics noted that Egypt is leveraging its position as a major subsea cable corridor between Europe and Asia to attract investment in hyperscale data centers, with a number of data center projects announced, including a new USD 400 million project in 2026.
The World Bank added that Egypt ranks third in the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan (MENAAP) region by number of AI companies, with a total of 289, and has recorded particularly high levels of AI adoption.
