The International Monetary Fund (IMF) expects Egypt's economy to recover, growing 5.1% this year, 2026, before slowing to 4.7% in 2027.

The IMF raised its growth forecasts for Egypt's economy for the past and current fiscal years, driven by a recovery in Suez Canal and oil revenues, according to Petya Koeva Brooks, Deputy Director of the Fund's Research Department.

The World Economic Outlook report raised Egypt's GDP growth forecast to 5.1% for the past fiscal year 2025/2026, compared with 4.4% in 2024/2025, with growth expected at 4.7% in the current fiscal year 2026/2027.

On inflation, the Fund expects it to have eased to 13.3% in the past fiscal year from 20.4% in the year before, but to rise to 14.8% in the current fiscal year.
