Banque du Caire made the list of the top 100 banks in Africa for 2026, published by African Business magazine, based on its financial statements for the year ended December 2025.
The list's data showed the bank with core capital of USD 976 million, assets of USD 11.326 billion and profits of USD 337 million. The ranking also gave a capital adequacy ratio of 9%, a return on assets of 3% and a return on equity of 35%.
Banque du Caire's inclusion is part of a strong Egyptian presence on the list: the ranking featured 20 Egyptian banks with total core capital of about USD 31 billion, compared with about USD 22.6 billion in the previous year's ranking.
Across Africa, the magazine's report showed the total core capital of the 100 banks rising 23% to USD 155 billion, while their total assets grew 16% to USD 1.8 trillion. The list is ranked by the size of Tier 1 core capital, after converting banks' financial data into US dollars for comparison.
