Arab African International Bank (AAIB) ranked 13th in the list of the top 100 banks in Africa for 2026, published by African Business magazine, based on the bank's financial statements for the year ended December 2025.
The ranking's data showed the bank's core capital reaching USD 2.603 billion, its assets USD 20.015 billion and its profits USD 362 million. Its capital adequacy ratio stood at 13%, its return on assets at 2% and its return on equity at 14%.
The magazine's report noted that the total core capital of the Egyptian banks in the ranking rose to about USD 31 billion, from USD 22.6 billion the previous year. This growth came amid a broader improvement in African banking: the total core capital of the 100 banks rose 23% to USD 155 billion, and their total assets grew 16% to USD 1.8 trillion.
African Business ranks banks by the size of their Tier 1 core capital, using the latest available financial data converted into US dollars to compare banking institutions across the continent.
