Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) announced that on September 24, 2026, it entered into a cornerstone investment agreement with MNT Tech Holding for Financial Investments S.A.E., known as "MNT-Halan", and MNT Investments B.V. Under the agreement, the bank commits to buy shares in the international offering that forms part of MNT-Halan's share offering and listing on the Egyptian Exchange, for a total investment of up to EGP 2 billion, subject to the terms and conditions of the cornerstone investment agreement as set out in the offering documents published by MNT-Halan.
The investment reflects CIB's commitment to supporting leading Egyptian companies with strong growth potential, while continuing to strengthen its presence in Egypt's financial services sector and capital markets.
Amr El Ganainy, Deputy CEO and Executive Board Member at Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB), expressed pride in CIB's leading role in supporting the non-bank financial sector as one of the most important sources of funding in the Egyptian economy, alongside the banking sector, which is the main source for strengthening non-bank finance companies, whether by financing them in their various forms or by investing directly in their capital.
He stressed the need to support the diversification of financing tools and mechanisms in the Egyptian market, particularly newer tools based on fintech and digital applications, led by MNT-Halan, building on the strong results it has achieved recently and on confidence in the new expansion and achievements it will deliver in the coming period, especially after CIB's participation by investing in its capital through the proposed offering on the Egyptian Exchange.
Commenting on CIB's participation, Mounir Nakhla, founder, CEO and managing director of MNT-Halan, said: "I am delighted that our partner CIB, which has been part of our journey for many years, is now joining us as a shareholder in the company. CIB has exceptional knowledge of this market, and its insight and expertise will be of great value to us as we build the next phase of MNT-Halan's journey. Our relationship with CIB spans more than 15 years; it believed in us from the start, and its support for the non-bank financial services sector has played a role in the growth of the entire sector."
MNT-Halan was founded by Mounir Nakhla, founder and CEO, who was joined in 2017 by Ahmed Mohsen as co-founder and Chief Technology Officer. MNT-Halan is one of Egypt's leading technology-driven non-bank financial services companies. Since its founding in December 2009 and through June 2026, the MNT-Halan group has disbursed EGP 178 billion in financing and served about 7.9 million customers.
MNT-Halan combines its digital platform, the "Halan" app, with a large physical network of more than 1,200 distribution points across 25 of Egypt's governorates, supporting a wide range of financial services including financing, payments, investments, e-commerce and other value-added financial services.
