The Agricultural Bank of Egypt's (ABE) project portfolio has grown strongly, by 50% since the start of the year, said Yehia El-Enany, the bank's Chief Credit Officer. He noted that the bank has moved to expand its financing portfolio to include post-harvest transactions, as well as financing agricultural production, such as purchases and farming operations.
In statements, El-Enany explained that ABE has begun financing the storage, cold-storage and refrigerated-transport chain, as well as export stations. The bank's financing has thus extended to large sectors linked to agricultural production, including sectors that serve agriculture such as packaging, which has contributed to the sector's growth.
He added that the bank finances contract farming and factories, and that ABE competes strongly in project finance by encouraging customers, whether borrowers or savers, with a distinctive package of banking services and products that rivals other banks.
The bank has recently achieved a strong leap in its results: total financing grew by about 25% over 6 months, while its loan portfolio exceeded EGP 110 billion, compared with about EGP 88 billion in December 2025.
The bank also continues to develop its banking products and services, giving priority to digital transformation to make banking and financing services easier for customers to access, especially in rural areas.
