Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) has won Euromoney magazine's award for "Best Bank in the Foreign Exchange Market in Egypt for 2026", backed by growing client transaction volumes, a diverse range of currency risk-management solutions and its ability to provide liquidity amid exchange-rate volatility.
The magazine's assessment was based on the bank's performance in 2025, a year that saw strong growth in its clients' foreign exchange activity, alongside a wide range of hedging tools that help companies, institutions and individuals deal with currency fluctuations.
Client foreign exchange transactions at the bank totaled about USD 12.6 billion in 2025, up 32% on the previous year. This activity spanned several client segments, including corporates, financial institutions and small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as retail banking customers.
The diversity of these segments highlights the breadth of the bank's foreign exchange services, which meet varied needs including trade transactions, transfers and managing foreign-currency cash flows, as the nature of operations and requirements differ for each client group.
The bank's activity was not limited to spot transactions; it extended to solutions that let clients manage their future foreign-currency obligations. During the year, the bank executed forward FX contracts worth nearly USD 250 million, in addition to options and structured products designed to help manage currency risk.
Forward contracts provide a way to agree an exchange rate for a transaction to be executed at a future date, giving clearer visibility on the cost of foreign-currency obligations. Options and structured products offer solutions that vary according to clients' needs and the nature of the risks they seek to hedge.
Euromoney's assessment highlighted the bank's ability to combine growth in client transactions with the provision of liquidity during a year of volatility in the Egyptian pound's exchange rate, as well as demonstrating its trading capabilities as market conditions changed.
This performance reflects the bank's presence in the Egyptian foreign exchange market and its ability to offer services that go beyond executing day-to-day transactions to providing tools that support clients' currency risk management and financial planning.
