Can a bank employee request an OTP?

No.

If someone on the phone, WhatsApp, or via message claims to be a bank employee and asks for your OTP, do not give it to them.

The OTP is a secret code used to confirm a transaction or login, and the central bank explicitly includes it among the data that must be kept confidential.

If you have already given it to them, hang up and immediately call the bank from its official number and review the transaction.
