What should I do if I lose my checkbook?

If your checkbook is lost, notify the bank immediately and don't wait until a forged check appears.

Steps

1. Try to identify the numbers of any unused checks from your last statement or records, and ask the bank to record the loss of the book and take the necessary steps to stop or monitor checks.

2. If you suspect a check has been used, report the number and amount immediately and obtain a reference number.
