Many banks offer savings accounts, deposits and certificates in foreign currencies, mostly US dollars. The return on these products is paid in the product's own currency, so a dollar certificate pays its return in dollars.
Return rates on pound products and on dollar products are not figures you can compare directly, because each is in a different currency, and the end result of converting depends on the future exchange rate, which no one can be sure of. That is why we give no advice on whether to convert; that decision is yours.
If you decide to stay in the currency you hold, compare products in the same currency, at the same amount, term and payout schedule. Check the key-facts statement: the currency, the minimum, the term, the payout options, the break terms and any fees, and note that fees are also charged in the account's currency.
