In Egypt, banks usually quote interest in two ways: reducing-balance interest (Reducing), which is calculated on the outstanding loan balance and goes down with every instalment, and flat interest (Flat), a rate that looks lower but is calculated on the full loan amount for the whole tenor.
The Central Bank of Egypt obliges banks to disclose the reducing-balance rate to the customer.
