Liquidation is when the beneficiary asks the bank to pay the value of the letter immediately, because the company has breached the terms of the contract.

Under the law, the bank is obliged to pay immediately upon the beneficiary's request, without referring back to the customer or obtaining their approval; the bank then debits the customer's account or pursues them through the courts.
