Is a certificate's return calculated from the purchase day or from the start of the month?

لو اشتريت قرب آخر الشهر، هل الأيام دي بتضيع عليّا؟

The day from which the return starts to be calculated is not one rule across all banks and products; it is an item that must be written in the key-facts statement of the certificate or deposit.

It matters to you in two ways:

If the return starts after the purchase day, the days in between your money has already left your account but earns no return from the product.

The start date sets the date of the first payout and all the dates after it, which affects your planning if you rely on the return for fixed expenses.

If you plan to buy near the end of the month, ask the bank two questions first: from exactly when is the return calculated? And when will the amount be debited from my account? Then decide whether to buy now or wait. If the item is unclear in the document, ask for a written clarification before you sign.
