هل اختيار الصرف الشهري معناه إني بخسر؟

Any rate published for a certificate or deposit is an annual rate, whatever the payout schedule. That is what the Central Bank's key-facts template for savings products requires.

The payout schedule decides when the same annual return reaches you. A hypothetical example per 100 EGP at 18% a year: monthly payout gives 1.50 EGP each month, quarterly 4.50 every 3 months, and annual 18 EGP once at the end of the year. The total over the year is the same.

A product's rate grid can quote a slightly lower annual rate for more frequent payout. That difference reflects when the money reaches you; it does not make monthly a drawback or annual an advantage.

  • The choice depends on your need: do you need income arriving regularly, or no money during the term? If you compare, compare the same product, amount and term, and check the key-facts statement for the payout options and the rate of each.
