Dollar Remains Under Pressure as U.S. Treasury Yields and Oil Prices Decline
The U.S. dollar remained under pressure in global markets today after falling to a three-week low in the previous session, as declining U.S. Treasury yields and lower oil prices reduced the currency’s appeal.
The dollar index, which tracks the greenback against a basket of six major currencies, held steady at 101.78 after declining 0.2% in the previous session.
Meanwhile, the Australian dollar rose 0.1% to $0.7013, approaching its three-week high of $0.7017 reached in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar was steady against the Japanese yen at 158.33 yen, while the euro held at $1.1229 and sterling traded unchanged at $1.33735.
Traders remained cautious about the euro amid widespread protests in France and mounting concerns over the country’s public finances.
Elsewhere, the New Zealand dollar slipped 0.1% to $0.5677.
