CBE: Net International Reserves and Net Foreign Assets Surged to an All Time High
Despite economic developments and challenges faced by the world in recent years, Egypt has succeeded in strengthening its capacity to withstand external pressures and support the stability of the banking sector and the national economy.
This was clearly reflected in the growth of foreign currency indicators, led by the surge in Net International Reserves (NIR) and Net Foreign Assets (NFA) held by banks.
In this regard, the Central Bank of Egypt’s data showed a rise in NIR, reaching approximately USD 57.350 billion by the end of September 2026, marking the highest level in history.
Likewise, Net Foreign Assets in the banking sector rose in August 2026 to reach USD 31.2 billion, the highest level since 2011, supported by an increase in foreign currency resources.
