CIB Foundation Leads Investment in Children’s Health, Reaching Over 8 Million Beneficiaries in 15 Years

For fifteen consecutive years, Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) has not treated community engagement as a peripheral activity, but as a core pillar of sustainable development. Guided by the firm belief that true investment begins with people, the Foundation was built on the conviction that Egypt’s future cannot be secured without safeguarding children’s health and ensuring their right to a dignified life.

Established on a philosophy of specialization, measurable impact, and long-term sustainability, CIB Foundation has placed Egyptian children at the heart of its strategy, translating vision into structured healthcare programs capable of driving systemic change.

A Broad Impact Backed by Measurable Results (2010–2025)

Over 15 years of structured institutional work, the Foundation has reached more than 8 million children across all governorates in Egypt through direct and indirect healthcare interventions.

  •        178 completed healthcare projects
  •         41 projects currently underway
  •         Partnerships with 70 strategic entities
  •         Geographic coverage spanning 27 governorates
  •         Total allocations exceeding EGP 2.63 billion

These figures reflect not only financial commitment, but a deliberate strategy focused on equitable healthcare access nationwide.

Strategic Specialization for Sustainable Healthcare Impact

From inception, the Foundation adopted a focused specialization model, prioritizing high-impact medical areas to maximize sustainable outcomes. Key areas of intervention include:

  •         Pediatrics and pediatric surgeries
  •         Pediatric cardiology and heart surgeries
  •         Oncology treatment
  •         Ophthalmology
  •         Intensive care and emergency services
  •         Support for children with disabilities

This approach aligns with national healthcare priorities and international health recommendations.

Targeted Healthcare Investment Allocation

Investments were strategically distributed to address pressing pediatric health challenges:

  •        Pediatrics: EGP 475.9 million
  •         Surgeries: EGP 336 million
  •         Pediatric heart conditions: EGP 434.4 million
  •         Oncology: EGP 334.8 million
  •         Ophthalmology: EGP 187 million
  •         Intensive care: EGP 210.8 million
  •         Emergency care: EGP 16.7 million
  •         Children with disabilities: EGP 192.7 million
  •         Dentistry: EGP 105.6 million
  •         Liver diseases: EGP 35.1 million
  •         Radiology: EGP 29 million
  •         Other health interventions: EGP 273.4 million

These allocations reflect a structured methodology aimed at maximizing healthcare outcomes.

Measuring Health and Economic Impact

Impact assessment extended beyond beneficiary numbers to internationally recognized health metrics. The Foundation’s interventions contributed to saving approximately 143,974,871 Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) for children — averaging 18 healthy years per child.

Furthermore, the Foundation achieved a Social Return on Investment (SROI) of EGP 23.56 for every EGP 1 spent, demonstrating substantial economic and social value generated through improved child health and reduced long-term healthcare burdens.

From Funding to Impact: A Strong Partnership Model

CIB Foundation operates through a comprehensive partnership model involving government entities, leading medical institutions, and civil society organizations to ensure:

  •       Efficient project implementation
  •         Maximized social return
  •         Expanded access in underserved regions

This collaborative approach has translated financial resources into tangible, measurable results.

A Lifecycle Strategy: From Birth to 18 Years

The Foundation’s strategy supports children from birth through adolescence, covering all developmental stages.

In 2020, it launched Egypt’s first collaborative national healthcare initiative of its kind, bringing together 4–5 institutions under a unified framework — a model that continues to deliver strong results.

National Alignment and Government Collaboration

The Foundation strengthened cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Population, allocating EGP 72 million last year to provide non-invasive glucose monitoring devices for children with diabetes, significantly improving quality of life.

It has also partnered with leading institutions such as:

  •         Cairo University Hospitals (Kasr Al Ainy)
  •         Magdi Yacoub Foundation
  •        Al Nas Hospital

These collaborations contributed to reducing pediatric cardiac surgery waiting lists across Egypt.

Governance, Transparency, and Sustainability

The Foundation adheres to the highest standards of governance, transparency, and accountability, ensuring optimal resource utilization and reinforcing stakeholder trust.

Its sustainability is closely linked to CIB’s strong financial performance, as profit growth directly enhances community allocations — reinforcing the integrated relationship between financial success and social responsibility.

Conclusion: A National Model for Responsible Social Investment

After fifteen years of structured and measurable work, CIB Foundation stands as a leading national model for impact-driven social investment.

Its journey proves that investing in children’s health is not philanthropy alone — it is a strategic commitment to Egypt’s long-term stability and prosperity.
