Commercial International Bank Egypt (CIB) wins “Bank of the Year – Egypt 2025” from The Banker Global
Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) has been awarded the title of “Bank of the Year in Egypt” for 2025 by The Banker, one of the most prestigious and highly competitive recognitions across the African banking landscape. The win comes as a testament to the bank’s resilient financial performance amid challenging conditions, along with its strategic expansion in business lending and innovative financing solutions.
According to The Banker, the award was strongly driven by the remarkable performance of the Commercial International Finance Company (CIFC) — CIB’s fully owned factoring subsidiary. Established at the start of 2024 to serve both large corporates and SMEs, CIFC achieved impressive first-year results, recording a factoring portfolio exceeding EGP 4 billion as of June 2025, with EGP 2.1 billion in outstanding balances. CIB now aims to accelerate the growth of its factoring activities through digitally integrated supply chain finance solutions.
In continued support of the SME sector, CIB launched its Sustainable Finance Loan in July 2024 — a product developed through a two-year strategic partnership between the bank, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), and the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. The product is tailored to meet the needs of key industries such as textiles, plastics, and food & beverages, helping businesses enhance operational sustainability, improve resource efficiency, and upgrade fixed assets.
In November 2024, the bank signed a credit risk guarantee agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), supporting SME lending through a €50 million portfolio, with coverage of 50% of the associated credit risk, enabling broader access to finance and sustainable expansion for local businesses.
