CBK participates for the first time in the FinCoNet Annual General Meeting
The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK) participated for the first time in the Annual General Meeting of the International Financial Consumer Protection Organization (FinCoNet), following its admission as an Associate Member in April 2025.
The CBK delegation was represented by the Deputy Governor for General Functions, Mrs. Nesrin Shileku Shala, and the Director of the Consumer Protection Department, Ms. Suzan Dervari.
During this international event, FinCoNet addressed a range of key topics of global importance for financial consumer protection, including the strengthening of market conduct supervision and enforcement to prevent consumer harm and promote responsible conduct by financial institutions; the implementation of the G20/OECD High-Level Principles on Financial Consumer Protection and the development of functional capacities for more effective consumer protection; digitalisation and the risks and challenges brought by Artificial Intelligence; the prevention of fraud and harmful financial schemes; as well as the role of consumer engagement and financial education in increasing transparency, public trust, and supervisory effectiveness.
The CBK considers that participation in this Annual Meeting of FinCoNet and the exchange of experiences with supervisory authorities will contribute to further strengthening the function of consumer protection in Kosovo, including capacity building, improving supervisory practices, and advancing modern market conduct approaches.
These efforts are fully aligned with the CBK Strategic Plan 2024-2028, which places consumer protection, financial education, and financial inclusion at the core of its strategic objectives, including the further development of supervisory capacities, advancement of complaint handling, increased transparency, and facilitation of access to financial services for all citizens without distinction.
