CIB Launches Apple Pay for Visa Business Cardholders — A First for Egypt’s SME Sector
The Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB), the country’s largest private-sector bank, proudly announces that it has become the first bank in Egypt to introduce Apple Pay for Visa Business cardholders, marking a pioneering step in the digital transformation of payment solutions for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
With Apple Pay, CIB Visa Business clients can enjoy a seamless and secure payment experience — whether in stores, within apps, or online. To make a contactless purchase at participating merchants, users simply double-click the side button and hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near the payment terminal. Every transaction is authenticated with Face ID, Touch ID, or the device’s passcode, along with a unique, one-time security code.
Clients can also use Apple Pay on iPhone, iPad, and Mac to make quick and easy purchases through apps or supported websites — without the need to repeatedly enter card, billing, or shipping details.
Apple Pay is designed with industry-leading security and privacy. The actual card number is never stored on the device or Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in the Secure Element, a certified chip built to protect payment information.
To activate Apple Pay, users simply open the Wallet app on their iPhone, tap the “+” sign, and follow the on-screen steps to add their CIB credit or debit cards. Once added, they can use Apple Pay across all compatible devices and continue to enjoy their CIB card rewards and benefits.
